Hyatt
rebrand in Charleston. New York City and Birmingham, Alabama-based Highline Hospitality
Partners will open a new hotel in Charleston, South Carolina, under the JdV by
Hyatt brand collection this summer. The 197-key Lowline Hotel is a renovation
of the former Hyatt Place Charleston Historic District and is among the first
properties in the southeastern U.S. to convert under the JdV brand.
Marriott
adds in Cambodia, Laos. Marriott International has signed an agreement with Cambodia-based KS
Hotels to introduce The Luxury Collection to Cambodia and Laos by converting
two boutique hotels: La Résidence Angkor in Siem Reap and La Résidence Phou Vao
in Luang Prabang. The agreement is set to mark Marriott’s entry in Laos and the
debut of The Luxury Collection in both countries. The 41-key La Résidence Phou
Vao is expected to debut in October, while the 59-key La Résidence Angkor is
scheduled to debut within The Luxury Collection in October 2027.
Hilton
growth in Brazil. In 2025, Hilton reports nearly a quarter
of its total room approvals in the CALA region were in Brazil. With nearly
30 hotels now open and plans to double its presence across 10 different brands
by 2030, in 2025 Hilton debuted in new Brazilian markets with Tru by Hilton Chapeco, Hampton by Hilton Caraguatatuba Serramar,
and DoubleTree by Hilton Caracol Canela.
Accor
adds in Brazil. Accor is converting the Sofitel Rio de Janeiro Ipanema into the brand's first
flagship hotel in Brazil. The 172-key hotel is scheduled to reopen at the end
of 2026.
Frasers
renovations in APAC. Singapore-based Frasers Hospitality, a business unit of Frasers Property Ltd.,
has unveiled a S$140 million asset enhancement initiatives (AEIs) spanning four
gateway-city assets across Kuala Lumpur, London, Melbourne and Singapore. The
renovations include the global debut of the Capri by Fraser brand with the
180-key Capri by Fraser, Kensington/London, which was formerly the Park
International Hotel and is scheduled to reopen in February 2027; the 72-key
Novotel Melbourne, which is scheduled to reopen in June 2027; the Westin Kuala
Lumpur, which will undergo a phased refurbishment and is targeted for
completion by July 2027; and the rebranded Frasers House, a Luxury Collection
Hotel, Singapore, which is scheduled for completion by December.
Wyndham
adds in Bali. Dubai-based Almal Real Estate Development is partnering with Wyndham Hotels
& Resorts for The One by ALMAL Bali Nusa Dua, a Registry Collection Hotel,
a luxury hospitality destination planned for the resort enclave in
Bali, Indonesia.
Hilton
debuts Garden Inn in Goa. Hilton is partnering with Delhi, India-based Kokra Resort & Spa
Private Ltd. to open the 116-key Hilton Garden Inn Goa Calangute, marking the
brand’s debut in the Indian state and introducing Hilton’s upscale brand in
Goa. With this opening, Hilton now operates four properties in Goa and recently signed its first luxury hotel in
the state with the Waldorf Astoria Goa.
Rio peaks
in February. The Rio
de Janeiro Carnival lifted the host hotel market to record-high monthly ADR and
RevPAR, according to February preliminary data from CoStar. For the
month, occupancy was 80.1% (-0.9% YOY); ADR was BRL 1,312.23 (+49.4% YOY) and RevPAR
was BRL 1,050.78 (+48% YOY). Amid Carnival (February 13-21), the market’s
performance peaked on Sunday, February 15, in occupancy (93.7%), ADR (BRL
2,657.38) and RevPAR (BRL 2,491.14). Rio’s occupancy came in above 70% on all
but two nights in February.
